Introduction
Hello and welcome to our blog. It's a pleasure to have you among our readers!
Why << A Backpack on Your Back >>?
Because it's all we need to go travel!
A backpack on our backs represents a pause in this fast-paced world, a breath of fresh air centered around our great passion: travel. This passion breeds and multiplies around many other themes: discovering new cultures and landscapes, history and archaeology, photography, personal development, diving...
And since a picture is worth a thousand words, here is a short presentation video.
The Reporters Behind the Backpack
Amandine and François: we blog and travel as a couple.
Behind the Pen: Amandine
Born in 1985, I am a citizen of the world from Belgium. With a background in psychology, I could have easily become an archaeologist, philosopher, or French teacher (it was a close call!). Recently, I have also trained as a life coach to guide travelers towards their goals, help them during transitions, or take the leap into the unknown.
I love: old wooden libraries with winding stairs, chocolate, summer fruits, discovering new things, diving into turquoise seas, walking, reading, animals, blue skies, optimism, discussing, inventing stories, discovering new cultures, experiencing thrills...
Since I was little, the elsewhere has intrigued me...
As a teenager, I dreamed of traveling through Latin America... a dream put aside until the end of my university studies (I share more about this here in detail). Nevertheless, I gave myself a pause and did one of my internships in Canada, which allowed me to live for half a year in Quebec. With my diploma in hand, I set off with François to Paraguay. Unknown destination, unknown duration, the only certainty being our budget: when we run out of money, we go home! During this first big trip, we created our first website (which now rests in peace).
This first long trip was, more than a revelation, an achievement: yes, this is what I want! Since then, we have already undertaken two long-term trips and are preparing our third...
As a travel blogger, Amandine is also a psychologist and life coach. Don't hesitate to contact her if you want to walk a bit of the path with her towards your personal development and achieving a goal.
Behind the Camera: François
I am fortunate to have found as a partner in this journey called life, François, with whom I have been since 2007. Just as passionate about travel as I am, he feeds me his dreams and projects, and helps me in very useful areas, such as IT and photography, essential for this site!
Also born in 1985, this citizen of the world has dual nationalities: Belgian and Spanish. He studied computer science, although he could have very well chosen an archaeology path too. Full of energy (to say the least!), he always has several ideas in mind... and the strength to make them happen!
He loves: eating, traveling by boat, discovering new things, going to the movies, diving in shipwrecks, walking, dogs, islands, storms, lighthouses, archaeology, photography, video, old trains, indulging, inventing, creating...
François is the man behind the scenes of this blog, but he is present behind every button on the site, every article he carefully reviews, every photo and every video. François is also the ultimate tester: find his gear testing articles in the advice section of the blog.
And to discover more about him, check out the videos >.
As a travel photographer, François is also an IT specialist focused on web development, optimization, and security. He offers his services to businesses, but also to bloggers. You can contact him for more information about his work as an IT professional and photographer.
