For bullfighting enthusiasts, don't miss the must-attend event of the southwest by participating in the Féria de Mont-de-Marsan! Throughout the event, you'll have the chance to discover this often-criticized tradition by observing professional bullfighters. The Océanes de la Musique in Biscarrosse
Every year on June 1st, Biscarrosse-Plage hosts no less than 15,000 people coming to participate in the Océanes de la Musique, a free event just steps from the Atlantic Ocean. In the 2023 edition, the festival welcomed renowned artists such as Marina Kaye, Doya, Les Frangines, and Diva Fauve!
Although the schedule has not yet been announced, expect many French-speaking and international artists to liven up the Landes! If you plan to visit Biscarrosse this summer, I strongly recommend reserving June 1st to celebrate the opening of the summer season, as it is one of the best events in the Landes
When is the best time to attend events in the Landes?
Without a doubt, the best season to visit the Landes is summer! The temperatures are perfect for beautiful walks, hiking, beach activities, and numerous outdoor activities. Of course, take advantage of the season to explore the local heritage inland and discover the beauty of the Landes coast.
However, the summer season also means peak tourist season. If you're looking for a peaceful vacation, the months of April, May, and June offer optimal conditions as well. These months are also a great option for those on a budget who can benefit from more affordable accommodation.
The Landes in autumn are an alternative worth considering as well. The days are still long, the weather is pleasant, and the majority of tourists have gone home. Many activities, such as hiking, biking, and even paddleboarding, are still available. Prioritize a stay in September!
How to Get to the Landes?
There are several options for easily reaching the Landes region. If you live in New Aquitaine or close by, using your own vehicle is the most suitable solution The easiest way is to take the A63 Bordeaux-Bayonne highway, which runs along the coast and allows you to reach the main seaside resorts. The Autoroute des Mers (A62) connects Bordeaux to Toulouse, and you need to exit at Aiguillon.
Flying to the Landes is an interesting option if you're coming from afar ✈️ For that, nothing could be simpler, three airports should be prioritized: Bordeaux-Mérignac Airport, Biarritz Parme Airport, and Pau Airport. Depending on your stay location, choose the airport that is closest and most convenient.
Finally, the train is, in my opinion, the last option to consider. To get to the Landes from Paris, the simplest way is to board a TGV heading to Bordeaux Saint-Jean. The journey takes only 2 hours, and you can find very affordable tickets by booking in advance. Once you arrive at Saint-Jean station, a TER line quickly connects to Mont-de-Marsan and Dax.
Although the bus is an alternative, it is primarily suitable for travelers looking to save big on transport. In terms of time, a bus trip is lengthy; I advise against it if you are coming from very far away!
That wraps up this article on the best events in the Landes in 2024. I hope it inspires you to explore the region this year and join in the festivities! See you soon for new articles!
