Although Bastia is one of the most important cities in Corsica, finding a place to stay can be quite a challenge. Most travelers choose to settle in the historic center, where the main establishments are concentrated; in my opinion, it's the best compromise!

Before diving into the search for accommodation, it's important to ask yourself the right questions. The right base is the one that suits your budget and expectations for the stay. Location is another factor not to be forgotten. To benefit from the best rates, I strongly advise you to book your accommodation in advance!

Clearly, the city center is the best option for settling down. It offers proximity to the waterfront, main monuments, as well as all the shops and restaurants. However, the price per night is high, and you might need to consider staying further out if you have a tighter budget.

Among the neighborhoods in Bastia, some are not worth considering at all: in some cases, you'll need to leave the city to find something that suits you! This is what we will see in the following sections

My Favorite Hotels to Sleep in Bastia ❤️!

The Hotel Posta Vecchia offers beautiful colorful and comfortable rooms starting at $74 / night. Close to all shops, restaurants, and bars, this establishment provides a warm welcome!

The Port Toga Hotel features an outdoor pool, a bar, and a restaurant. The rooms are comfortable and tastefully decorated, starting at $86 per night.

The Cors'Hotel is located 10 minutes from Bastia in Biguglia, a few minutes from the beach. It has a large garden, an outdoor pool, a decked terrace, and comfortable rooms available from $73 / night!

For a first stay in Bastia, or if you're looking for a comfortable vacation, sleeping in the city center is a smart choice. It's the best way to visit as many monuments as possible and enjoy the sea. The old town is also ideal for dining in restaurants and enjoying bars leisurely

In terms of accommodation, there is a bit of everything in Bastia. Whether it's a hotel room, a vacation rental, or a guest house, the accommodations are relatively varied. However, it is imperative to book as soon as possible, as availability runs out quickly and you might be disappointed!

Overall, Bastia's city center offers a relaxed and vibrant atmosphere. It is a lively neighborhood with nice café terraces and restaurants serving Corsican specialties. Among the sites to consider, the Old Port remains a must-see for its maritime landscape and relaxing ambiance.

You'll also find the Terra Vecchia neighborhood, which is the oldest area of Bastia. While staying in northern Corsica, you will inevitably spend a lot of time in this area! Among the monuments to see are the Saint-Jean-Baptiste Church, the Bastia citadel, and the Saint-Nicolas square! ☺️

Also, remember to explore the shops on Boulevard Paoli and Rue César Campinchi, which house artisan boutiques. Finally, the market square is a must-see and a pleasant place to discover, even though it was destroyed in 1944 during the Battle of the Ardennes.

Toga, the Most Authentic Neighborhood in Bastia

If you cannot find available establishments in the historic center of Bastia, the Toga neighborhood is another interesting option. It is located near the city center and offers a much quieter and more authentic atmosphere, although this neighborhood is considered the most upscale in the city.

In terms of accommodations, you will find charming residences that can be quite suitable for families and groups of friends visiting northern Corsica. Rates are significantly more attractive, although they do increase in the summer season. The Toga neighborhood remains an excellent second choice.

It must be admitted that this area does not really host tourist attractions. The only truly interesting feature is the marina, which will allow you to engage in water activities! There are also restaurants and cafes, a few shops, and supermarkets, which are quite convenient.

By heading to the south of Bastia, it is possible to find a few extra accommodations. For this, I advise you to head towards the Chiurlinu-Biguglia pond, which is known for its stunning landscapes and breathtaking coastline!

Deciding to move away from Bastia will open the doors to much more affordable rates and an authentic way of life, away from the tourist crowds. However, it is important to book as soon as possible, as accommodations are limited and many tourists will think the same as you...

Among the types of accommodation you will mainly find in the heights of Bastia are vacation rentals and even a campsite located on the northeastern shore of the pond, but few hotels!

Generally speaking, summer brings sufficiently warm temperatures to fully enjoy the beaches and coastline of Bastia. However, the summer period attracts many tourists, lodging prices soar, and you'll have more difficulty finding accommodations!

The best compromise would be to visit Bastia in spring or autumn. These two seasons offer beautiful temperatures between 73 and 75 degrees, which is perfect for activities and sightseeing. During this time, tourist crowds are less intense and the rates are more attractive

How to Get to Bastia?

There are two ways to reach Bastia from France: by plane and by ferry. Depending on what you're looking for in your journey and your budget, one of these two options may suit you

Flying to Corsica

Traveling to Bastia by plane is, in my opinion, the fastest and most convenient solution. The Island of Beauty has no fewer than 4 airports, including the one in Bastia, which is located about 15 minutes from downtown

From Paris, a direct flight to Bastia takes just an hour and a half. Many airlines offer direct connections from several cities throughout the year.

Taking the Ferry to Corsica

In some cases, taking the ferry to Corsica can be a more economical or practical solution, especially if you want to take your car with you The journey will take longer than by plane, but you won't have to rent a vehicle when you get there.
